What is a core journal

What is a core journal? What is the definition of a core journal? This edition has sorted out the concepts and contents of some core journals for you, hoping to help you.

Core periodicals refer to the major periodicals of a certain discipline, which contain a large amount of professional information with high quality, can represent the development level of professional disciplines and are valued by readers of this discipline.

There are many methods to determine core journals. China generally determines them according to the following principles: (1) journals with more papers (that is, the amount of literature published in this discipline); (2) Periodicals with a large amount of excerpts from secondary literature; (3) Periodicals that have been cited many times by readers.

"Core periodicals" are determined by the libraries of several domestic universities according to the citation rate, reprint rate, abstract rate and other indicators of periodicals. The standards for confirming core periodicals are also formulated by some university libraries, and the evaluation and entry standards of university libraries are also different.

The press and publication administration department has not participated in such selection activities. The General Administration of press and publication has never classified these journals on the level of academic level. There are also many categories of core journals, such as the core of Nanjing University, the core of Peking University, the core of science and technology, the core of Humanities and Social Sciences, etc.

The literature published in academic journals is mainly academic papers, while the literature published in non academic journals is mainly documents, reports, speeches, experiences, knowledge and so on, which can only be used as academic research materials rather than papers.

Because the basis of the selection of the general survey is the large number of articles, collections and citations, and it does not emphasize the boundary between academic journals and non academic journals, it naturally does not make a strict distinction.

Specifically, there is no distinction between academic and non academic, which is mainly reflected in two aspects: one is the qualitative nature of the journal, and the other is the purpose of the journal.
